Dear members of Spanish-Speaking Vascular Surgeons:
As stipulated in its statutes, following the 18th Convention held in Valladolid, I begin my term as President of CVHH, succeeding the current President, Dr. Renato Mertens. I would first like to congratulate Dr. Mertens for his magnificent management during a particularly turbulent period due to the uncertainties of the pandemic and political instability, as well as for his generosity and prudence in handing over the organization of this convention to the president. I also congratulate Dr. Carlos Vaquero, the previous President, for successfully bringing this alternative to Valladolid to fruition.
With a professional career that is inevitably becoming more extensive, I face this challenge with the same motivation and commitment to CVHH since its inception, with active participation in most of its conventions and responsibility in various positions on its Board of Directors.
I remain convinced of the opportunity and purpose of the CVHH project as an Ibero-American society of vascular surgery specialists, united by a common language and interests. However, we cannot ignore the need for CVHH to evolve toward integration and collaboration with other Latin American groups.
From this perspective, I assume this responsibility with the following objectives :
1. Promote the exchange of scientific, teaching, and academic experiences, as well as the development of collaborative projects involving centers on both sides of the Atlantic.
2. Integrate the interests of the various Latin American societies, with a progressive approximation of the dates of their biennial congresses that allows for the holding of joint meetings.
3. Design a mobility program with scholarships aimed at the balanced and effective exchange of young residents or associates between Latin American, European, and North American countries.
4. Encourage the creation of a joint platform with members of Latin American origin who have developed their careers in European or North American centers and who assist in the training and promotion of professionals from their areas of origin.
With the hope and excitement of having the opportunity to develop these objectives during the next stage of CVHH,
Receive a cordial greeting,
Manuel Miralles
President of CVHH Spanish-Speaking Vascular Surgeons
